Promise Bound, thank you so much for your help and support! I am here as a Focus Missionary at Arizona State University. The large campus of 80,000 students in definitely keeping me on my toes down here in the heat! It has been an incredible year of adventures and blessing in saying 'yes' to serving Christ on mission.

Promise Bound has supported and helped me get my new ministry (Revolution Ministries) off of the ground and running. I have a deep passion for recovering the ancient message of the Gospel revealing this message to church culture in new and compelling ways. One of my favorite ways to do this is over a weekend retreat. Like Jesus, I love to take men away from the crowds and all of the hustle and bustle of their daily life and allow them to rediscover the promises of God anew. Promise Bound is making this possible - that is, allowing me to proclaim the Gospel anew in various settings, but most in particular, allowing me to take men away to recover their hearts.

My favorite thing is those moments of connection with individual teens and times when I see any little detail in their life improving or witness how far they’ve come and where they would like to go. I’ve been given responsibility over ensuring we have full meals at our programs each week and am always seeking more engaging and intentional ways that we can share with the teens how the good news comes into their life personally in a multiplicity of ways. For instance, how God wants to be with them in what they’re carrying or the “more” that He has in store for them in the face of disappointments. One way that has come about practically is in the aim we’ve chosen for our Breakout talks this year (how the Good News applies to [...] difficulty the teens tend to encounter), as well as in leading Bible Study small groups. One way I’d like to find ways to improve is in having those conversations one on one after fostering friendship.

God is funny. After approaching a decade as an aerospace structures engineer and just having a second child, He presented my wife and I an opportunity to work in a radically different field: men's ministry. Forge is a Catholic men's ministry which started its first expansion in Wichita which I am blessed to spearhead. Everything we do is about the family, with a strategic emphasis on the father. Fathers have a disproportionate impact on the faith being handed down through generations, or not. At Forge we know becoming a great dad isn't an isolated endeavor, so we focus on supporting this mission through small groups. Everything else we do, from developing world-class curriculum to hosting premiere men's socials with national-caliber speakers, is in service of forging men's hearts in small groups.

The support from Promise Bound Charities has helped me be able to go serve as a FOCUS missionary full time. They have given me the freedom to give myself and my time fully to my students. That has allowed the Lord to work through me to start ministry at University of Mary where we now serve students in their pursuit of faith. I am so thankful for this organization to witness how to use one gift to grow the kingdom ofGod.
God Bless,
McKenzi Weber
